Operating three cattle stations the Mayne’s have been producing quality organic beef since the 1990s
Peter and Straun Mayne from Springsure, and Phillip and Genett Mayne from Penjobe Pastoral, Central Queensland
Straun Mayne is a fourth-generation Australian cattle farmer. He farms Goathlands with his dad, Peter. Phillip Mayne, Peter’s brother, farms the adjacent property Penjobe Pastoral.
Brothers, Peter and Philip, acquired their land from their grandparents who originally farmed there after WWI.
Together the Mayne family own three major cattle stations, and have been producing certified organic beef since the late 1990s. Their farms are Global Animal Partnership (GAP) accredited, a welfare standard supported by farmers, scientists, ranchers, animal welfare advocates and retailers who work collaboratively to promote continuous improvement in animal agriculture.
The Mayne’s raise Charbray and Shorthorn x Brahman crossbreeds, breeds that thrive in the harsher Australian conditions, offering excellent growth and fantastic meat quality.
With the recent arrival of the next generation of Mayne’s the family-farming heritage looks set to continue.
