The importance of the fat in organic meat

October 12, 2013

Meat fat is generally given a bad rap by health advocates, who claim that it has no nutritional value and could in fact be harmful in the long run.

In reality, fat is a common nutrient that is just as important as the likes of protein and iron. We need a healthy supply of fat to ensure our bodies are receiving the energy they need and are staying fit and strong.

And buying organic lamb or beef, of course, ensures that you’re getting the best deal. It will have just the right types of fat you need for your diet, without any nasty antibiotics or hormones added in!

So what exactly are some of the reasons we need to maintain our levels of fat?

Energy

All organisms store energy in their bodies in the form of fat, so those wonderful marbled specks of adipose tissue on your organic beef are the perfect source of natural energy.

Consuming natural meat on a regular basis is therefore an ideal way to supply your body with the energy it needs to perform everyday tasks.

Skin and tissue

Healthy fatty acids are a vital ingredient in keeping your skin glowing and healthy.

In addition to maintaining the cells that make up the skin, the right fats provide the oil your skin needs to keep smooth and supple.

Cell growth

Fat is one of the most important building blocks that form the cells in our bodies.

They comprise a significant part of the cell membranes, helping to control what goes in and out of the cells and aiding in the transfer of nutrients across the body.

So next time you’re enjoying a delicious steak, remember that fat content is actually doing your body a world of good!
